On June 13 Ethan's flight had a farewell lunch for him and the other optometrist that was leaving Travis. I loved watching Ethan grow as a leader and optometrist at Travis. He is amazing.
On June 23 his squadron hosted a family picnic at a community center on base that has a splash pad. When we walked up the kids were even more excited at the prospect of their being a dunk tank. Then we walked in to where the food was and they got even more excited all the food, treats, and soda they could eat/drink.
The heat drew them to the water as soon as they finished eating. Someone commented that it was nice to see that nice boys like ours are still boys. Ha!
After what seemed like an eternity, they finally let people use the dunk tank. My kids were all eager to take a turn getting dunked. In fact, Bolton was pretty upset that I wouldn't let him do it. I think I eventually relented and let him have his turn, with Bryant ready to pull him right up and out of the water.
Abe loved throwing the balls.
Down he goes!
It looks good, Abe!
Uh-oh!
And then they made snow cones, too!!! This day just kept getting better.
The culminating event of the day was a booster club fundraiser. People could nominate others to be in the tank by donating money. The 3 highest paid nominees had to enter the tank. Also the 2 lowest paid nominees had to enter the tank. Anyone who was nominated could buy their way out of the tank. Somehow Ethan got nominated and he was the lowest paid... so into the tank he went!
The kids all took a turn trying to get him in the water.
Finally, Eliza just ran up and made him take the plunge!
We had such a fun day!!! AMDS is a great squadron to be a part of!
