Boots and Hair

Remember these beauties? These boots have been so fun! Eliza loves to wear them, no matter what else she's wearing or doing...

I'm learning that she likes to be like mommy. Her favorite place in the house is my bathroom, getting into stuff. Drives me crazy sometimes, other times it just makes me laugh... One day, she came out after doing her hair saying, "I'm cute, Mommy." Yes, Eliza, beautiful.
Doesn't she look cute with her big hair, (mini) skirt (I know its getting too small, it makes me sad), and boots? I smiled all day when I looked at her. Unfortunately, the boots aren't always able to make it better for her. I don't remember what this fit was about, but she has definitely entered that stage I've been dreading.
Saturday it was Mommy's turn to throw a fit. Levi decided to cut Eliza's hair. I don't know what he was thinking! But I know he was banished to his room because I was so upset I didn't trust myself to not smack him. I cried. Really, I did. See that big chunk out of the back?
But that's not all... Oh how depressed I was. I couldn't even laugh through Psych.
But I couldn't just mope about it, I had to try to fix it. Maybe it was a mistake. I'm sure Brindy could have done a thousand times better, but she's 2 weeks away. So cut, I did...
This picture just doesn't do it justice... it was so much hair.
The finished product. That is, until Brindy can maybe help me fix the mistakes I made?

I think she looks really cute, I mean how could she not look cute? But you know what I mean. I was really worried about it, but it will grow. And in the meantime, she has a cute short hair cut that is a lot easier to clean, brush and fix.

The first Christmas party of the season

Saturday was our first Christmas party of the season. It was an intimate gathering of folks from Ethan's squadron on base. The kids were able to make ornaments and everyone brought cookies to share. We had a great time (and ate way too many cookies)!

A plea for help... I'm in charge of the class party for Levi and am looking for fun activities to do with 15 four year olds, PLEASE share your ideas. I've got ideas, but I'm not sure they're manageable with that size a group.

Fort Imagination

I really love to watch my kids make believe, because when you make believe, anything is possible. Jonas is usually the instigator at our house. He loves to dress up, but even if he can't because his mom is too mean to get the costumes down, he plays pretend and gets everyone in on the fun.

Bryant hasn't been very into it, but the other day he asked me to make him look more like Boba Fett (or maybe it was Jango Fett?) so I said we'd try making a mask...

... then he thought we should make a jet pack as well. I mean, you can't be a Fett without a jet pack, right? The kids played with our silly, non-realistic mask and jet pack for a couple hours, literally.
Later in the day, Jonas became a knight. He put the mask on upside down with the point up, so clever. Then he became a ninja and the balloon was something, but I just can't remember... bummer.
Lesson learned: even when kids are bigger, one of the best toys is a cardboard box, at least at our house (otherwise known as Fort Imagination).

Baby Bolton Teaser Trailer

Grandmas, here you go. A little taste of what you'll get to snuggle in less than 2 weeks!!!
He started eating rice cereal and really likes it. His 19 pound self is much happier in the evenings getting to eat dinner like the rest of us. Can you believe he's 5 months already?!?!?

And if he's not the cutest little guy around, I just don't know who is. Not that I'm biased or anything.
We're excited for you to snuggle him too...

Quarantine

We have been sick at our house... are we the only ones? I know you heard about Jonas' high fever that lasted a week... here he is at the end of it. Doesn't he look so sad, his eyes are usually so full of life and mischief. Unfortunately, it passed from Jonas to all the other kids...
Eliza got it and got double ear infections, with a perforated ear drum to boot. Poor sad girl. This picture wasn't actually taken while she was sick, but that blankie sure has been her constant companion even more than usual during and since the illness.
Sweet Baby Bolton even got sick. His fever didn't ever go very high, but he did get an ear and eye infection. He also lost his status as perfect baby for a while. He's on his way back though. :)I'm happy to report that we all went to church together yesterday!!! The quarantine is over! Hip hip hooray! I have been at home or the doctor's office for almost 3 weeks! I'm so happy everyone is well and happy again!
