Through the Eyes of a 4 year old
Our little photographer, Bryant, loves to take pictures. We find countless treasures on the camera, here is a sampling of some of my recent favorites.
Water Fun
The hot days are full of fun with the sprinkler and friends to keep us busy.
Jonas was having so much fun, every time he went through he tried to get as much of his body wet as possible (including his tongue as you can see).
Yesterday, we bought a new pool for the boys. Needless to say, they are looking forward to many more hot afternoons.

I Love to See the Temple
I love to see the temple...
I'll go inside someday...
Bryant found my temple schedule in my purse and started asking if he could go to the temple...
I though about it before saying my initial response of "no" and decided, it would be a good learning opportunity for the boys...
So, the following Monday we drove to the beautiful Portland, Oregon Temple and had a picnic and walked around the lovely grounds...
We talked about why it is such a special place...
We also had some fun rolling down the hill. Jonas was so busy looking at the pool and waterfalls that he walked right in without even realizing. He looked down at his feet and jumped back, it was pretty funny!
It was a special afternoon I got to spend with my boys. I love to see the temple!

Musicians in the Making
His name is Jonas, he's carrying the drum...with his help we started our very own "Bee Bop Band."

Feelin' Good
We had a mystery delivery of these beautiful flowers on our doorstep last week. We don't know who they're from, but if you're reading this, THANK YOU!!! You made us feel very loved!

Memorial Day at the Park
After a 7.5 mile bike ride up the Vernonia Linear Trail, we went to Bard Park and had dinner with a bunch of friends from school. We didn't have our camera with us all day, so these were graciously taken and shared by our friends, thanks guys! We had so much fun as we always do with our friends. We've got a couple more months of enjoying their company and then its off to enjoy time with the fam!
Four of us all have a 2 year old and a baby. Here are the four of each...Jonas loves playing with his friends. Even just looking at these pictures he is so excited to see Paul! They were having a lot of fun playing with the bubbles.
My kids are obsessed with taking hats off people, Levi was busy attacking this one, so out of 4 pics, we got this one with Levi looking toward the camera.
Bryant was playing on the jungle gym and a nice dad of another child (whom we didn't know) was there and Bryant asked him for help. He was very particular about the help he wanted and then asked him to help with another "trick" then he got a little more confident and said, "Don't help me this time, just watch to make sure I'm OK." Well, after this he came to get me to show me he could do it. The dad told me all this and I asked Bryant if he'd said "thank you" and he and the dad told me that he said, "Gracias!" (It was clearly evident that the dad spoke Spanish). My cute little boy is so smart! Here he is performing his new "trick."
Jonas loves sunglasses and putting them on upside down is his specialty, everyone got a big kick out of it!
Levi is growing up so quickly, he loves to play outside, so this was a real treat for him (even though he looks pretty serious).

Helping Hands
We constantly have a mess at our house (those of you who know me from days gone by, its never quite as bad as my bedroom once was). I am cleaning a good portion of the day, but the boys seem to think they need my attention when I do so, this day I really wanted the boys out of my hair so I could get some stuff done, so I put them to work...
Levi thought he'd help with the laundry, doesn't he look proud of himself. This was after a head first dive into the laundry basket-one of those many times we wished we knew in advance that we needed the camera handy.
The older boys wanted to take turns vacuuming and Jonas discovered that its lots of fun to try to clean Bryant up. Well, as you can see, Bryant really needed a good cleaning...(if you look closely, you can see a little vacuum hickey on his belly).

Ft. Stevens Camping Expedition
So a couple months back we had this fabulous idea to invite all our families to vacation on the Oregon Coast at Ft. Stevens. We sent out an email and personally called everyone, well, no one came. They missed out big time! We had a terrific time as you can see.
This is our YURT. It was camping in luxury!
We woke up to a beautiful blue sky and loaded everyone into the car to head to the beach and this is what the day turned into. It didn't stop us from enjoying the Peter Iredale shipwreck and flying our kite.

Once we were all loaded in the car and warming up, the blue sky came back, go figure!
Here we are at the south Jetty, which is under construction. They had the most gigantic boulders/rocks there I have ever seen. This picture was taken at the viewpoint that is still open. A couple were up there with us and they asked if they could take a picture of Jonas because his face was soooo dirty. Of course, when we tried to get it on our camera, all we got was the top of his head.
Ok, here is the messy face. It is the product of a 2 year old and black licorice combo.
These are just random pics of Battery Russell. It was so much fun to explore.
After exploring the battery, we took a little nature walk and Bryant found a cute little walking stick. He's ready for the long haul...
This is one of the sweetest memories of the trip. After roasting marshmallows, the kids weren't ready to go to bed yet, so they sat on my lap and we sang campfire songs for about an hour.
Our first night there I cleaned up dinner and brought all our fruit and unwrapped food into the yurt. As we were saying our family prayer Ethan and I noticed this weird sound outside. When we were closing the door after laying the kids down Ethan jumps back into the yurt and whispers, "There's something out there...it growled at me." My heart started to race, the kids were really confused and asking questions and Ethan was trying to look out the window on the door to see what was out there. Well, it was the friendly neighborhood raccoon, "Oh, there's two of them, no a whole family...at least three" Ethan tells me. So we go out to get all our packaged food and our garbage bag, well, one of those raccoons wasn't going to give that bag up without a fight. He ran under our yurt and then wrestled with the bag until he was satisfied he wasn't going to get it. It was hilarious! Although, my heart didn't stop racing until I was asleep.
So, night two, Ethan wanted to wait up for our coons and take a picture. They all three came in turns, we figure they were doing their normal routine and found a jackpot at our place (they ate 1/4 of a brand new loaf of bread). The growling was probably at one another and not at Ethan. We were a lot "closer" to nature this trip than ever before.
We went to the main base of the fort the next day. Here they have a museum and LOTS to look at. Here we are during a tour on an old army truck around the whole 3 mile base.
This is a replica of the guns that were used to defend the fort's position. That's a big gun.

We decided to drive up to Washington to find Cape Disappointment lighthouse (having heard about it across the river at the fort). We hiked up and along the way we found these treasures.
Here is Dead Man's Cove, Ethan's favorite view of the hike...
And we made it! This was probably the highlight of our entire trip for me. It was beautiful and invigorating! Look Grandma, "Crossing the Bar"!
The lighthouse is still in working order, so there aren't tours, much to the kids' dismay.

Saying goodbye to the yurt was very sad for the boys. They enjoyed it up to the point when we drove away.
We went to Seaside as our final stop on our family vacation. Once again, the beach and the kite flying was super fun! Bryant said that flying his kite and swinging at the beach was his favorite part of our trip. The boys, as always love having the waves chase them.
Well, there you have it. Do you feel like you were there with us? Sorry for the lengthy post, we just had such a fabulous time that we kept taking pictures. I couldn't resist.
