We moved to England! People told me to share pictures but I hate putting everything on social media, so I'm considering blogging again. Also considering a newsletter. I don't know what will stick, but I love having so much family history in one place, so we'll start with this...
July 27, 2026 we loaded SO MUCH STUFF into my Dad and Ethan's Dad's cars and then we headed to the airport. Bolton had so much fun tetris-ing the luggage (boy after my own heart).
It was hard to say goodbye to our parents and Bryant... but we expect to see them all across the pond before too long!
We managed to fit it all on three carts and six people!
Getting checked in with all that luggage and with our no-fee passports (which add a complication for everyone, it seems) took SO long! We were glad that we arrived three hours before our flight. Thankfully we had a nice Delta worker who knew what she was doing, otherwise it might have taken even longer. Ethan and the boys got to go through TSA precheck security, but Eliza and I had to wait with all the other poor souls in the line for regular. Although, we did go to a "secret" security checkpoint that wasn't as busy as the normal one. I don't know why the air conditioning doesn't seem to work very well at this point in any airport I've ever been to.
We made it to our gate! Screens were brought out and excitement was high! Our flight was delayed because the temperature inside the cabin of our plane was abnormally high. The cockpit reported it was 84 dergrees. No thank you. They eventually felt like it had cooled off enough or it was not worth waiting any longer and we boarded!
Traveling was so much easier this time than when we moved to Japan 10 years earlier. Less kids, all older made a huge difference. We were so happy that we were able to get on a direct flight. But even with all those blessings, it was a long, hot flight.
We got to London and were grateful for the taxi service that picked us up and drove us the 2 hours to our new base! We got checked in to our temporary lodging and tried not to crash, but jet lag kicked our butts. I guess we're getting old.
